Free Self-Defence Month Long Training Programme For Women in Navi Mumbai
To mark International Women’s Day, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will launch a month-long free self-defence training programme for women at the Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium on Wednesday.
The programme will train women in various self-defence techniques that will prepare them to handle any case of emergency. Ajay Suryavanshi, secretary, Param Foundation, which is organising the training programme, said, “During the month-long training, we will teach women how to protect themselves. There will be taekwondo training and simple techniques of self-protection will be taught using props such as pen, umbrella, and ladies’ handbags.”
‘The training programme is open to women in 15 to 60 age-group, who will be divided into groups of 30 to 35 members. The officials are confident that the initiative will be of great help to women in Navi Mumbai and are spreading the word on social media and putting up banners and posters to ensure maximum women avail themselves of the training.
