Show Solidarity for LGBT community, join Mumbai Pride March on Jan,28th

‘Queer’ is a platform to ask for equal rights of LGBTIQ. The minority group not accepted by Indian society that recognizes only two genders and considers only heterosexual relationships valid. Queer Azaadi March voices for equal rights in form of an annual parade in Mumbai that was initiated on August 16, 2008.

On July 2, 2009 the Delhi High Court passed a landmark judgment where Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code was read down. Post this judgment, sexual acts in private between consenting adults of the same sex were no longer criminalized. This had been the foremost long standing demand of the Queer Movement in India.

From 2011, QAM began conducting a week full of festivities and events in different pockets of Mumbai from movie screenings, flash mob, plays, meet-the-author to drag shows, street performances and mela and finally, the much awaited Queer Azaadi Mumbai Pride March which saw thousands of queer individuals walk to ask and assert their human rights of equality in eyes of law and society.

The Supreme Court of India set aside the 2009 Delhi High Court judgment that decriminalized homosexuality on 11th December 2013. But the fight for equal rights haven’t ended yet.

If you respect equal rights for all in India then join and support every year this Pride Parade.

The Queer Azaadi Mumbai pride parade is being organised on January 28 from 3:00pm onwards  at August Kranti Maidan, Gowlia Tank, near Grant Road Station.
