Mumbai Celebrates The Auspicious Occasion of MahaShivratri
From Lord Shiva’s birth to his Neelkanth legend and marriage with Goddess Parvati, there are different stories and beliefs behind celebrating Maha Shivaratri in Hindu religion. Devotees offer water, milk and flowers to Shiva’s idol and worship the Lord. Shiva is considered the ideal husband and unmarried girls and women pray for a husband like him. Devotees also observe a strict fast on the day of Mahashivratri.
Famous Mumbai temples like Babulnath, Sri Bhuvaneshwar Temple and Sri Shankar Mattham saw big crowds of devotees thronged in lines waiting to offer prayers for Lord Shiva.
